Parking the bigly thing downtown is a challenge. This pic was taken at the end of the day after the lot started clearing out. I would have taken the end spot had I been here a little earlier this morning.

How tight is the squeeze?

Kinja'd!!!

Pretty tight. Fortunately, it has an excellent backup camera.

The guy (gal?) in spot 8 wasn’t there when I parked this morning. It looks like he decided to give himself some extra room. I’m sure the person in the next slot didn’t appreciate it.

I’m thinking about swapping it for something smaller and more fuel efficient. I normally fill up in Baton Rouge before I come to Houston, drive all week, then fill up in Houston before I go home. The low fuel light came on this afternoon. I’m wondering how much fuel it’s going to slurp up this week. It’s not looking good so far.

That’s the baby. Have you seen the newish Expeditions?

I had a chance to drive an Expedition last year in 2017. It was definitely bigger. Even so, if the Explorer is the baby, its name is Huey.

What pisses me off is shopping centers that intentionally paint narrower spots just to squeeze in maybe a half a dozen more cars. I was at the local mall a few weeks ago and I parked dead center between the lines in my tiny hatchback, and I had 3" on each side! I could barely get out and had to fold in my mirrors out of courtesy for anyone trying to get inside theirs...

I mean excellent job centering in the lines. I was at a restaurant near South Bend recently and looking around the lot was amazed at how consistently well people had parked. So good job Hoosiers, Chicago suburbs be a shit show.

Doesn’t really look that narrow? I mean it’s not a generous space, but you are only tight on the lines because they are using wide lines. It does appear to not be long enough to fit your vehicle.

Thanks. It’s a crap shoot in this lot. People called for jury duty tend to park in this lot, so it’s not unusual to have a lot of people who’ve never parked downtown before.

It’s not super narrow, but the Explorer is definitely tubby . Parking the Maxima was a lot easier. It was easier to see out of and despite the Explorer camera being good, the Maxima cameras were even better.

It continually amuses the shit out of me that my WK is really not that much bigger than a Toyota Rav4.

I feel like parking lot designer s don’t receive enough flak for trying to get away with t he absolute minimum when it comes to parking space dimensions.
